Rick Whitted, the best-selling author of Outgrow Your Space at Work, interviewed me for his podcast about intentionally helping our kids focus on their future career choices.  Rick and I talked about preparing our kids for college, adulthood, and a working life.

Most intentional parents focus on parenting their kids’ physical well-being, their emotional well-being, their psychological well-being, and their spiritual well-being.  But they don’t think through how they want to prepare their kids for who they want to be, what they want to do, or—more importantly—what they will have a passion to accomplish over the course of their working lives.

I interviewed Danny Yamashiro earlier this year.  You can listen to his inspiring story here.

Life moves at a very fast clip. That’s why it’s vital for us to downshift from time to time to gain perspective.

In the interview, Danny and I talk about these important questions.

  • Does my perception of who I am have anything to do with the impact I have in the world around me?
  • What kind of impact can I really have if my sphere of influence is just my family?
  • I want to leave a legacy. How do I do that?

I hope you enjoy the interview. And I’d love to know what you think about it. Please feel free to leave a comment below, as I’m sure others would be interested in your perspective too.

This song is a poignant reminder—especially for dads—about how we need to guard our hearts.

We are no longer our own.  We have been bought with a price.

Let’s remember who we are.  And live our lives unto God.  For the benefit of our children.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.  By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Question: How can we purposefully and intentionally love our fellow believers?  How can we prevent misunderstandings from dividing brothers?  You can share this article on Facebook by clicking here.
