Whatever your mind focuses on will be manifested in your life. Because you will get the fruit of your thoughts (Jeremiah 6:19).
Your core beliefs will come out in your words and deeds (Matthew 15:18; Luke 6:45). What you say and do will show what you think about more than what you say you think about.
If you don’t like what you see manifesting as the fruit of your thoughts, here’s how you can change.
1. What is your fruit?
Strong’s Concordance says the Hebrew word for fruit in Jeremiah 6:19 is priy. It literally or figuratively means fruit, or reward. Just like with a tree, you will produce whatever fruit that the inside of you programs you to produce (Matthew 7:16-20; Luke 6:43-45).
What do you see showing up in your words and your actions? Is there a trend? Ask God to tell you why you see what you see in your life. He will be sure to tell you (James 1:5).
2. What fruit do you want to see?
If you don’t like what you see in your words and actions, then you can change. But you have to decide what you want to see show up in your words and actions.
- Do you want to be more loving?
- Do you want to be more joyful?
- Do you want to be more at peace?
- Do you want to be more patient?
- Do you want to be gentler?
- Do you want to do more good?
- Do you want to have more faith?
- Do you want to be more humble?
- Do you want to have more self-control?
Know what you want to come out of you. Then you will know what you need to put into you.
3. How badly do you want to change?
You can’t just be content to have Christ’s Spirit inside of you. You must also make the Spirit work its way out of you (Galatians 5:25).
You can take ownership of your mind. But first you must fill your mind with Scripture. Then you will have the same mind as Christ (Philippians 2:5)—because you will know how He thinks.
When your mind is filled with Scripture, you can be guided by the Spirit of God. And your words and your actions can manifest the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).
